At Teesta University, the higher education framework is structured around a semester-based system, encompassing courses, credit hours, ongoing assessment, and letter grading.
In alignment with its mission and objectives, the University is dedicated to upholding rigorous academic standards. This commitment is realized through thoughtfully crafted curricula, the meticulous selection of exceptional students and faculty, the integration of contemporary and effective instructional methods and resources, and a steadfast commitment to continuous monitoring and rigorous evaluation of all relevant activities and systems.
There are two equal semesters-Spring and Fall. The duration of each semester is 14 working weeks. An additional week for each semester is allocated for final exams. Usually, the Spring semester commences in January and the Fall semester commences in July. The Semester Calendar provides deadlines for registration add/drop courses, withdrawals etc. This has financial and academic implications.
Each course is identified by a two-part numbering system. The first part with three alphabets represents the subject area and the second part refers to the level of the course as follows:
The series 100, 200, 300 and 400 numbers are intended to indicate progressively more demanding content of the course and correspondingly increasing competence on the part of the students enrolled in the course. For example, Bus 2301 Bank Management is a second-year course and it is assumed that a student registering in this course has already attended one or more one-year (100 levels) courses in Business. A student may register in this course before second year if he has already fulfilled the prerequisites for the course. The course may be taken after second year also when the student has fulfilled the prerequisites.
