Dr. Mt. Ummakulsum Tauhida Akter is a
Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at Teesta University,
Rangpur. She earned her Ph.D. from the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS),
University of Rajshahi, where her research focused on gender-based violence,
work performance, and redress mechanisms in Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment
(RMG) industry.
Alongside her academic career, Dr. Akter has extensive
experience in labor and development research. She previously served as a Senior
Research Associate at iSocial, contributing to projects in collaboration with
the International Labour Organization (ILO), Cornell University's Global Labor
Institute, UN Women, Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), and Awaj
Foundation. She has also coordinated research and capacity-building initiatives
on labor justice, fair wages, and worker protection.
Dr. Akter is committed to advancing research-informed teaching and promoting
inclusive, equitable, and sustainable workplace practices through academic
excellence and policy-oriented research.
