Prof. Sonjib Chawdhury

Biography of Treasurer ​Professor Sonjib Chowdhury, son of Sree Priyo Nath Chowdhury and Shrimoti Biva Chowdhury was born on 4th April in a respected Hindu family at Kashimpur, a village under Raninagar Upazila in Naogaon District (The then Rajshahi). His ancestral home was in Khajur, a village under Mohadebpur Upazila in Naogaon District. Brother DR. Ranjan Chowdhury lives at Mohadebpur. He is a retired THFPQ. Sree Priyo Nath Chowdhury achieved his diploma in accounting from London School of Economics. Mother Shrimoti Biva Chowdhury was a house wife, the then Minor school passed. Father was a Sales Accounts in charge in Carew and Co, Darsana. Sukla Chowdhury is Mr. Sonjib's spouse, a graduate from R.U. They have been blessed with two sons, DR. Sabara and Soujanya (a graduate in Hotel Management). He started his early education in Carew's school at Darsana. Passed SSC exam from Jessore Board in 1968 and placed in the First Division with 99% marks in Mathematics. From the same Board he obtained HSC in 1970 and was placed in the Second Division with 59% marks because he had not have any forth subject. In 1973 (Exam held in 1975), he obtained B.Sc (Honors) in Physics from Rajshahi University and was placed in Upper Second Class. Stood First in the First Class in M.Sc in 1974 (Exam held in 1976) from the same university. He Started his teaching carrier from Devendra College, Manikganj in 1977 appeared in Public Service Commission's Exam and there he stood First in Physics, of stream. In 1979 he joined Carmichael College and in 1992 he became an Assistant Professor. An Associate Professor in Physics he taught students of Jagannath College in 2000. In 2005, as a Professor and Head of the Department of Physics he taught physics in Carmichael College. He became Principal in 2006 at Sapahar Govt. College and in 2007 he discharged his duties as Principal in Rangpur Govt. College till 2009. In 2010 he finally retired from Govt. service. During his illustrious service he was trained in different capacities at home and in India. After formal retirement from Government Service he joined Shahan International School which has been conducting education upto 'O' and 'A' Levels in Rangpur as Principal upto 2013. After that he was associated with Emran-Saifur's IELTS program in Rangpur. In the month of November 23rd 2023 he was blessed by the Hon'ble President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of the Universities along with the esteemed Chairman of the BoT Mr. Md. Asraful Alam Al-Amin picked him as a Treasurer of the Teesta University (TU), Rangpur. He joined as a Treasurer in Teesta University (TU) which is the first Non-Government Private University in Rangpur on 01st January 2024. I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been chosen by the distinguished President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency the Chancellor, as the Treasurer of Teesta University, Rangpur. My sincere appreciation extends to the reverend Board of Trustees, with special gratitude to our esteemed Chairman, Mr. Asraful Alam Al-Amin.

Having devoted thirty-seven (37) years to serving the nation in various educational roles, I am privileged to have received a national accolade—a gold medal from the Government of Bangladesh for my contributions as an educator.

A university is not merely a seat of learning; it is a dynamic centre for the cultivation, dissemination, and dispersion of knowledge. With great optimism, I believe that Teesta University, in its youth, will emerge as a symbol of success in fulfilling the cherished aspirations of Bangladesh. At the forefront of our mission is the commitment to generate novel ideas and disseminate the latest advancements in basic research, particularly in cutting-edge technology.

Aligned with the forward-thinking initiatives of our present government, the Teesta University authority, in collaboration with our esteemed faculty, stands resolute in meeting the evolving needs of our time. As a united team, we are dedicated to contributing significantly to the realization of our collective vision as designed by The University Grants Commission (UGC) in its Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum to transform Bangladesh as a developed nation in near future.
